October 24th 2018. Building Your Author Platform: Part 4: Easy Self Promotion: Business Cards, Writing Samples, & Networking. This event is free and open to the public, but you must RSVP as space is limited. It’s sponsored by the Silver Spring Writers Group. I will be teaching and facilitating this 2-hour workshop.


September 28-30, 2018. 11am-7pm. Baltimore Inner Harbor. The Baltimore Book Festival features hundreds of appearances by local, celebrity and nationally known authors, book signings, more than 100 exhibitors and booksellers, nonstop readings on multiple stages, cooking demos by top chefs, poetry readings, workshops, panel discussions, storytellers and hands-on projects for kids, live music, and a thoughtfully curated food, craft beer, and wine program. I’ll be there as a participant on Friday September 28, spending most of my time at the Romance Writers of America and Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America stages.


September 26, 2018. Building Your Author Platform: Part 3: Author Website Development, Copy writing & Repurposing Content. This event is free and open to the public, but you must RSVP as space is limited. It’s sponsored by the Silver Spring Writers Group. I will be teaching and facilitating this 2-hour workshop.


August 22, 2018. Building Your Author Platform: Part 2: Connecting with Readers: Goodreads, Book clubs, and Conferences. This event is free and open to the public, but you must RSVP as space is limited. It’s sponsored by the Silver Spring Writers Group. I will be teaching and facilitating this 2-hour workshop.


August 2-4 2018. #OutWrite2019 at The DC Center

OutWrite is a nonprofit festival celebrating LGBT Literature at the Reeves Center, centrally located on U Street NW and home to the The DC Center for the LGBT Community. The 2019 festival kicks off with a launch event the evening of Friday, August 2nd.  Saturday, August 3rd is our full day of readings, panels, exhibitors and book sales. Workshops for writers will be held on Sunday, August 4th. I’ll be there as a participant on August 4th. In 2018, OutWrite welcomed more than ninety LGBTQ authors as readers and panelists, including keynote Michelle Tea, Mary Anne Mohanraj, Kosoko Jackson and Lara Elena Donnelly.

July 25th 2018. Building Your Author Platform: Part 1: Getting Social Online: Social Media, Quora & Blogging. This event is free and open to the public, but you must RSVP as space is limited. Fall 2008, October 4, 2008. The Capital BookFest returns to the Blvd @ The Cap Centre in Largo, MD! I was invited back – third year in a row -to the fourth Annual Capital BookFest sponsored by The Washington Post on Saturday.


April 12th 2008, I accepted an invitation to a Private Poetry Circle event as the featured, Guest Poet for the afternoon. I read from Storm of Roses and shared new, unpublished poems, including “We Were Giants” which will be a part of my next compilation.


October 6th 2007. 10am-7pm. Annual Capital BookFest. Storm of Roses to be exhibited at the third Annual Capital BookFest sponsored by The Washington Post@ Borders Books, 931 A Capital Centre Blvd, Largo Maryland, 20774. Last year, 1500 adults and children attended this event and I read poems and excerpts from Storm of Roses in the Borders bookstore as a part of the festivities. This year I have been invited to attend as an exhibitor! Woohoo!


Summer 2007. Freelance writer and book publicist Jennifer Pullinger writes and article covering the 28th Washington Writers Conference in Washington DC. She quotes me and suggests the conference consider adding me to the panel of next year’s conference! Sweet!


May 2007. Storm of Roses Wins Another Award! Award-Winning Finalist in the Poetry Category of the “National Indie Excellence 2007” Book Awards!

NEWS!!! B. Dalton completely sold out of Storm of Roses 35 minutes before the signing was scheduled to end!!! (Noon-4pm) Storm of Roses continued to sell despite being sold out as multiple customers didn’t let the lack of books deter them and insisted on ordering their copies! Because of Storm of Roses’s success, E. Tara Scurry has been invited back to the B. Dalton for a second round in May or June, date TBA!

One attendee was candidate for the Montgomery County Council seat at-large and former Montgomery County school board president (94′-04′) Reggie Felton (www.reggiefelton.org), who bought two books!

June 2006 CHOCOLATE CHERRY REaD Book Club is a woman’s Professional book club consisting of Physicists, Registered Nurses, Technologists and hospital administrators.
