Screwed Over In The Dark: A Poem from Storm of Roses

As published in both Storm of Roses & Spark

Screwed Over In The Dark

Floating on the boat of despair

The river of tears sending me forth

Eyes stinging from cold fear

Will you always be there for me

Or did you speak false seduction

For your own wicked amusement

So that I may lie trusting beside you

Heart and body naked before those eyes

For you to break and take at your will

I’m sad and surprised

I thought you really loved me

Then why did you hold me,

Look deep into my eyes, and tell me lies?

I have passion in my pain

All this love-wishing was in vain

I don’t want to spend a lifetime looking for someone

But you just had me, then left

For more fun

I have no love, no hope left, and no heart

You left it bleeding,

Still beating in the dark
