Robb Elementary School in Uvalde Texas

Babies’ bodies blasted to bits

Politicians nursing the breast of Gun Gods

Young bodies hide, cry, and scream

Leaders dance in the land of milk

Empty prayers

Honey, blood money

Smell Sacrilege, Taste Hypocrisy

Parent’s worst nightmare, fires the life out of life

Children ordered to grave before a chance to live

So sweet, the helpless nectar of innocents

So rich, our politicians

So dead, our children

NOTE:

I have two children in elementary school and this mass shooting disturbs me greatly. Writing this poem helped me get my feelings out so I could go about the rest of my day without falling apart. I believe in the right to bear arms, and at the same time we also need more safeguards against the systems in place that allow our innocent children to be murdered in a place where they should be safe. We can do better and it needs to start now!
